I planted 150 onions (100 Yellow 50 Red) last couple of years I have had small onions. I have heard two opposing philosophies on onions. 1. Fertilize 2. dont fertalize. You thoughts? I also planted them 1/2 deep. when should I start brushing the soil away. THey have been in the ground 2 weeks.

nice onions.  in Kentucky we generally plant our first ones in early April along with the greens and some root vegetables.  We start eating them and replanting all along into early fall.

Why are the green leaves on top not long enough to be pulled from the ground while standing? That would do one's back in. Does the Creator not even harvest? LOL.

I love my Onions but in the UK the ones I pull up are the size of my toe 🙂 I did chop off the root from Onions and they did grow in to more Onions so you could have more luck where you are at growing the tops again 🙂

This is great! I just started this year planting onions here in Indiana just for our own use. By the way, I love your pup….I have a 7 month old black lab mix that looks almost exactly like yours. (She has a little white on her though…thus the mix part…she loves to chase my chickens…bad puppy…) Thanks a lot!!! Beth

Vegetable Gardening is fun and challenging and it really makes you happy and more relaxed in a number of ways. However, Having our own supply of fresh vegetables right in our yard make us more healthy. Generally, it is an astonishing video!
