Throughout Swarthmore’s campus, five buildings are equipped with green roofs, totaling approximately 31,000 square feet. The roofs absorb rainwater while also providing a natural habitat. In this video, Lars Rasmussen of the Scott Arboretum gives a tour of David Kemp dormitory’s green roof. He explains his role maintaining the campus’s green roofs, describes the type of plants that thrive in the environment, and details how the roofs help the College’s sustainability efforts.
