Floral Art from the Low Country

One of Sandra's Prized Photo Cards

Some years ago while visiting Charleston, I happened across a gallery where the work of artist Sandra Baggettewas on display. I fell in love with her charming oils, which reflect our shared love of gardening. Sandra lives in God’s paradise – Port Royal, SC, part of the great ACE basin. If you don’t know what that means, it is the acronym for the confluence of three major South Carolina rivers – the Ashepoo, Combahee and South Edisto. To me, this would have been the perfect setting for the garden of Eden, and I suspect Sandra feels that way too. Sandra creates cards to commemorate new work – a lovely way to advertise – and I have held on to her ‘Flowers in the Sunshine – A View of Nice ‘ for years, only to discover there are others who have collected the entire thirty eight cards. In honor of the season, when our Southern camellias start to bloom, here is another of her works.
