This video is a recording of a presentation of an article titled “Certified Organic Controlled Environment Hydroponic Systems and their Potential to Feed the World” at the College of Agriculture in the California Polytechnic State University Pomona. What I hope to achieve with this video is an explanation of how we can easily, efficiently and quickly achieve increased resiliency in our systems of food production. It is an invitation to the idea that our whole entire thought process will have to change if we want to continue the survival of our species. The consequences of this change would only be of the most positive of potentials, because it would allow us to feed 10 billion by 2050 with less space, water and artificially produced nutrients.
Let’s not forget that California’s weather and nitrogen contamination from our agribusiness industries are also key issues, which are all addressed and solved through the use of controlled environment hydroponic systems. Hydroponics allows us to reach beyond the horizontal plane, it allows us to create vertical planes of plant production. It is the future of food technology.
But how do we embrace it? Through grassroots movements and community empowerment, because that solves for the continuous education about the actual means and sources of our food. It is easily done when groups of marginalized minorities cooperate to accomplish once-thought-to-be impossible feats, as we have seen in previous centuries.
This is the Movement with No Name as Hawken calls it, of more than 10 million in the US who want to retake control of their food supplies, empower economic improvement, solve climate change and return the Earth to a state of balance.
For those who are creating ripple effects that foment change, I take off my hat and salute you like a fellow brother who is trying to heal our ill Mother.
For those who are still doubtful about the effects that this movement has the ability to create, I invite you to dream about your most socially beneficial idea and to pursue it. Because after all life pays in benefit not profit.
For those who still negate the facts and ideas that I have described in this video and believe that we can solve climate change events as detrimental as the near 5 billion dollar loss to agriculture in this year alone by trying to solve it the same way we did before, I invite you to contact me and we can meet and talk.

I found your presentation to be extremely informative and well presented. You engaged me from the very beginning. I think that as a society we need to become aware of the severity of our current situation as well as to be more inquisitive about the source of the food we are consuming. Not just eating for the sake of eating but actually caring about what we feed to our bodies. What better way to achieve this than by doing it through Organic Controlled Environment Hydroponics. What a great world it would be if we could feed our world with nutritious and organic foods that are grown through processes that allow us to maximize the resources the Earth provides.
While watching your presentation a thought occurred to me. I am currently pursuing my masters in Marriage and Family Therapy at CSU Chico and one thing I have learned through my first year in this program is that in order to achieve mental health we need to reach a point where our bodies and spirits are healthy as well. The Recovery Model of Mental Health talks about the importance of providing hope and empowerment that allows individuals to travel through their journey to recovery. This model expresses the importance of having an active role in society and becoming socially inclusive in order to find meaning. I believe that by providing individual's who struggle with a mental health condition with tools that teach them how to grow their own foods and by educating them about how these innovative agriculture practices are helping and benefiting our world they can become empowered and find a purpose that drives them through their process of recovery.

Este video es una grabación de una presentación de un artículo titulado "Certificado Orgánico controlado entorno de sistemas hidropónicos y su potencial para alimentar al mundo" en el Colegio de Agricultura de la California State Polytechnic University Pomona. Lo que espero lograr con este video es una explicación de cómo podemos fácilmente, de manera eficiente y rápida de lograr una mayor flexibilidad en nuestros sistemas de producción de alimentos. Es una invitación a la idea de que nuestro proceso de pensamiento toda entera tendrá que cambiar si queremos seguir la supervivencia de nuestra especie. Las consecuencias de este cambio sólo serían de los más positivos de los potenciales, ya que nos permitiría alimentar a 10 mil millones para el año 2050 con menos espacio, el agua y los nutrientes producidos artificialmente.
No olvidemos que el clima de California y la contaminación de nitrógeno de nuestras industrias agroindustriales también son cuestiones fundamentales, que son todos abordados y resueltos mediante el uso de sistemas hidropónicos ambiente controlado. Hidroponía nos permite llegar más allá del plano horizontal, que nos permite crear planos verticales de producción de la planta. Es el futuro de la tecnología de los alimentos.
Pero ¿cómo nos abrazamos? A través de los movimientos de base y empoderamiento de la comunidad, ya que resuelve para la educación continua de los medios y las fuentes de nuestros alimentos reales. Es fácil de hacer cuando los grupos de las minorías marginadas cooperan para llevar a cabo una vez se pensó-a-ser hazañas imposibles, como se ha visto en siglos anteriores.
Este es el movimiento sin nombre como Hawken lo llama, de más de 10 millones en los EE.UU. que quieren volver a tomar el control de sus suministros de alimentos, potenciar la mejora económica, resolver el cambio climático y regresar a la Tierra a un estado de equilibrio.
Para aquellos que están creando un efecto dominó que fomentan el cambio, me quito el sombrero y saludo como a un hermano compañero que está tratando de sanar nuestra madre enferma.
Para aquellos que todavía dudan de los efectos que este movimiento tiene la capacidad de crear, los invito a soñar acerca de su idea más socialmente beneficioso y para conseguirlo. Porque después de todo la vida paga en beneficio no beneficiarse.
Para aquellos que todavía niega los hechos y las ideas que he descrito en este video y creer que podemos resolver los eventos de cambio climático tan perjudicial como la pérdida de cerca de 5 mil millones de dólares para la agricultura en este año por tratar de resolver de la misma manera que hicimos antes, los invito a ponerse en contacto conmigo y podemos conocer y hablar.

Los aztecas fueron la primera civilización humana en usar agricultura hidropónica eficientemente. Esta técnica, mediante el uso de una chinampa, ocupó 100 % de lo que era el lago de Texcoco, que se convirtió después en la Ciudad de México.
Existen métodos en sistemas abiertos que permiten un segundo cultivo, fijación por plantas que crecen en pequeñas lagunas de fondo impermeabilizado y otros ensayándose. Las recomendaciones de realizar cultivos hidropónicos o sin suelo solo por considerar su alta productividad y rendimiento económico, que no tengan en cuenta estos aspectos ambientales perniciosos, no son aconsejables. Los cultivos que son aptos para este método son el tomate, lechuga, repollo, pimiento, pepino, espinaca, entre otros.

Me encanto!!, últimamente gracias a ti he conocido algo que ignoraba y es increíble todo lo q se puede hacer para tener una alimentación sana y contribuir a esa manera d ver las cosas y q existan jóvenes como tu interesados en cambiar este mundo, yo como madre me hubiera encantado haber consumido ese tipo de verduras cuando crie a mis hijos, es una pena ver la sequia en la q estamos en esta parte donde naci y creci. Esta manera de cultivar con tan poca agua da una esperanza FELICIDADES por compartir tus conocimientos, eres un gran ser humano.
As a student majoring in plant science, I have also come to the same conclusion.We must shift towards more sustainable forms of agriculture. Organic Controlled Environment Hydroponics offers modern agriculture a significant advantage over outdated industrial techniques. In my perspective this type of technology is vital in our transition towards more sustainable forms of agricultre . So i'm glad to see awareness being brought to this powerful form of technology.
Rafa! Love the presentation content and visuals. Climate change is a massive problem and it's effect on global agricultural production could lead to unprecedented changes in our approach to large scale domestic farming.
The only constructive criticism I'd have is to face the audience more and speak very clearly, even more clearly than you'd think. Looking at the presentation (and movement of almost any kind) tends to distract the viewer a bit.
That said, I love what you're doing here and keep up the good work!
